Opening Acts Ruin an Otherwise Awesome Show
Dan Potthast was followed by a crappy emo pop punk band called The Wonder Years. I can usually sit through some bad opening acts and start to get irritated. But 3 of them and I was pretty bored. The Wonder Years were followed by yet another opening act, Supervillains. At first they seemed okay, playing a pretty chill reggae-ish song, but then they randomly started breaking into punk halfway through the song. Their lyrics and banter were awful too. The younger portion of the crowd mostly liked it, but there were plenty of people in the back sitting with their arms crossed obviously not enthused by them. I was included myself. So after 3 hours of mediocre opening acts, everything was great once 2charm finally came on. The setlist was awesome, the sound was good, and the crowd was really into it. They really know how to put on a great live show and you can tell they really love doing it. It was nice to have someone that ska fans would appreciate, but he was okay. Overall, I probably would have enjoyed myself more if they got rid of one of their openers or just got bands that would appeal to their entire audience. Regardless, 2charm absolutely killed it.
